Defective Candles

It has come to our attention that we have sold some candles made with defective wicks which may impact the proper burning of some Pretty by Her candles. This really really sucks and we want to make this right for the customers affected.

The good news is that it's not every candle and the issue has been isolated with our supplier and corrected. We have also switched to a new brand of wick entirely. So moving forward, our candles will burn in the top notch way they always have.

If your wick is defective, you'll notice things like tunnelling (the flame burns down the center of the candle only even when burning for the recommended 4 hours at a time) and/or your flame may be weak or self extinguish. You may also notice tiny holes in your burned wick if you look closely.

MINOR ISSUES

If you notice some minor tunnelling, (some wax stuck to the sides but not a significant amount), it is likely that this candle can be saved from the landfill.  That extra wax should continued to melt as the flame burns farther down the candle (since the further down the burn, the more the heat is contained within the candle instead of escaping out of the top). Keep burning your candle and use a metal object to gently nudge the burning wick upright. This will help distribute the heat more evenly across the jar. If you notice a mushroom starting to form on the top of the wick, this is a good sign! If this doesn't solve the problem, come back and fill out the form below to let us know!
